Ryanair to fly to south Tenerife
By Joe | July 20, 2007
Certainly a good thing to see that Ryanair are switching operations from the north airport to the south this winter.
Although the airline only currently operates to Tenerife from Shannon and Dublin, it should still act as a welcome adrenaline shot for the tourist and property industries.
Commenting on the move from Tenerife North to Tenerife South, Ryanair’s Director of Scheduled Revenue, Sean Coyle, said:
“This change of airport has come about as a result of requests from passengers to access the southern part of the island and we are delighted to say that we have confirmed slots at Tenerife South Airport for the upcoming winter season. Tenerife South Airport is the larger of the two Tenerife Airports and would be more familiar to passengers who have traditionally travelled with charter operators accessing the more popular tourist resorts on the south of the island.
Demand for our Tenerife services has been strong over the last 12 months and we expect this change of airport to further increase the demand for services. I would therefore advise passenger wishing to travel to Tenerife to book their winter seats now as we expect the change in airport will significantly boost demand”.

We will now see if all the nice words from Ryanair will come true! With the demise of Fly Globespan this week with no further daily flights from the South to Stansted which is a fortress for the Ryanair group, will they take on the Stansted route? In just over two years Globespan built a “nearly full” each trip trade, it really needs Raynair to pick up the baton, we await!
