Fill your stockings in Tenerife
Wednesday, December 19th, 2007Anybody looking for a last-minute stocking filler might like to pop down to the Albatross bar in Costa del Silencio, opposite Coral Mar, next Sunday (23rd). I’ll be there signing copies of THE AWARD-WINNING More Ketchup than Salsa: Confessions of a Tenerife barman (did I mention it won an award?) from 7pm.
Joy (heroine of the book) [...]
Award-winning Tenerife travel writer, I’ll have you know!
Monday, November 12th, 2007Well there’s a turnip for the books.
More Ketchup than Salsa, my book about swapping a career in fish entrails on Bolton fish market for a life as a British bar owner in Tenerife was voted ‘Best Travel Narrative 2007′ at the British Guild of Travel Writers’ swanky awards ceremony held at the Savoy in London [...]
Where can I buy More Ketchup than Salsa in Tenerife
Monday, September 3rd, 2007I can’t believe how difficult it is to arrange distribution of my book, More Ketchup than Salsa in Tenerife! Despite my own, and my publishers efforts, 15 months down the line and we’re still without a distributor.
So, stuff ‘em.
I’ve been given clearance by Summersdale (my publisher) to supply outlets myself.
To date, More Ketchup than Salsa [...]
Live on air
Tuesday, August 14th, 2007For those who missed my monumental… ahem, no sniggering… interview on Oasis FM in Tenerife, here are the links for the chat with Roscoe, in its entirety. I think it went well, despite my tonsillitis and broad Mancunian accent that only seems to surface in public speaking events such as this. No idea why that happens, [...]
Tenerife musings
Monday, January 15th, 2007Sorry, been ‘off air’ for a while. Writing commissions (including being contracted to ghost write a novel) and various features have been filling the spaces around pretending to be a dragon for my two kids and battening down the hatches during our latest bout of tropical winds. The weather here definitely seems to be getting [...]
Latest with the book
Friday, September 29th, 2006The Sky TV thing went well. Peter Purves is a charming chap and made a very good host. Didn’t give me a Blue Peter Badge though - git.
Since been invited on a new ITV series about working abroad, so I obviously didn’t make a complete pig’s ear of the Sky appearance.
Had some great local press [...]
TV appearance
Thursday, September 7th, 2006Well, blow me! Been invited to be a guest on Sky TV’s ‘Destination Lunch’ programme, hosted by Judith (package holiday) Chalmers and Blue Peter Purves. Flying back to Blighty this Monday for filming on Tuesday. Life in the fast lane, eh? If only I could drive.
I’ll post the broadcast date and news of how the [...]
Flying high
Wednesday, August 16th, 2006Those lovely people at My Travel have just published a review of More Ketchup, in which they describe it as… ‘a hilarious insight into the wild and wacky characters of an expat community in a familiar holiday destination’. Bless ‘em.
The meet and greet has been met and… er… gret!?
Wednesday, August 16th, 2006Book signing went remarkably well. Far from being the only person in the bookshop for my allotted hour, I signed near on 45 copies and sold around 20. I also got a free glass of wine, which was nice. Probably do a signing session in Tenerife next. I could get used to this…
